Personal journey
Interviewer:
You describe yourself as a lifelong spiritual researcher. What first sparked your interest in spirituality and the teachings of the world religions?
David Lundberg:
My interest in spirituality is just something I’ve always had. One of my first memories as a young child is standing in my backyard, looking up at the sky and wondering, Who am I? Why am I here? Who and what is God?
Interviewer:
Growing up in a family involved in inspirational publishing, how did that environment shape your worldview?
Lundberg:
I always had great love and respect for my father and felt blessed that he was such a kind and wise man. Visiting him at his publishing company, and also working there part-time while growing up, established within me that publishing information about God and Jesus and the many benefits of a spiritually-inspired life was a true calling for me.
Interviewer: Was there a defining spiritual experience or turning point that changed the direction of your life?
Lundberg:
At age 20 I did have a defining experience which solidified my faith in the spiritual world.
It was late in the evening and I was alone and feeling depressed about my life. I made a fervent prayer to God for help, and a magnificent light gradually grew in size in the upper corner of my bedroom. It was the same light I have since read about that many people having a near-death experience (NDE) have reported—it grew brighter than the sun, yet it did not hurt my eyes.

Although I received no specific message, I felt quite energized and my depression vanished. What made this so intensely meaningful for me was the realization that we are not alone. Sincere prayer is heard and answered by our Creator!
Interviewer:
You mention prayer, meditation, and spiritual experiences as important influences. How have these practices evolved for you over the years?
Lundberg:
At age 22, my older brother introduced me to Transcendental Meditation. I practiced it regularly and realized the power it had to bring peace and greater self-control into my every-day existence.
Although there have been periods in my life when I didn’t practice this, whenever I returned to it my life improved, and I again felt connected to my Higher Self. In short, meditation significantly improves my ability to receive answers to my prayers.
My perspective is that any sincere seeker benefits from regular meditation, because it connects one to divine peace that no other practice can offer.
Also, various spoken decrees and mantras have brought profound revelations to me. Intellectually, many answers to challenging questions have been facilitated by meditation and prayer. And, in my feeling world, I’ve enjoyed delightful emotional highs that have added a special richness to my life.
Research across religions
Interviewer:
Your work examines sacred texts across many religious traditions. What common truths have you found among the world’s religions?
Lundberg:
The most obvious common truth I’ve found among the world religions is that God loves His children far more than even the best mother on Earth could ever love her children. God is so generous to us, offering us an eternity of glorious experiences. Sure, life on this Earth has many sad times, frightening times, horrific times, but enlightened saints and sages have long taught that these certainly common, “unpleasant” experiences result from the divine gift of free will. Our Creator endows humanity with free will because He is not in the business of creating robots! Our Creator always provides us with a means of recovery.
In my lifelong study, I have found that Christian Scripture, as well as all of the world’s major religious traditions, portray Almighty God as entirely merciful and forgiving, provided that the individual sincerely makes that prayerful request. And, thanks to reincarnation, everyone has the opportunity to apply their hard-earned lessons in new rounds of living to master life, until one can transmute enough personal karma to transcend their earthly sojourn and reside ever after in the Heaven world.

So, in looking at all the faiths I’ve recognized that the most important inner mystical teachings of each is about love. I earnestly believe that love is the highest qualification we can give to the light/energy we constantly receive from God. That is why, in my Unifying Truths of the World’s Religions book, I have it sectioned into four parts: loving God, loving God in oneself, loving others (loving the God in them), and loving God in our work. I believe that deep down, love is the essential nature of our being.
Interviewer:
Were there any discoveries during your research that surprised you or challenged your previous beliefs?
Lundberg:
I’m going to sound like a broken record—but I rejoiced in discovering, expressed in so many different ways, that God is almost “too good to be true.” Every time I focused on the question of what happens to be the ultimate purpose of life—what life is all about—I’d find new reasons to
believe that God provides glories, feelings, love and beauty that are truly “beyond our fondest dreams,” which happens to be the subtitle of my book about the afterlife. The more we include God in our life, the more we can experience the most wonderful thoughts and feelings of love, joy, and even occasionally bliss.
When people watch the news to see what’s going on in the world, it can be hard for them to see beyond that. In the past, there were many times it was difficult for me to see beyond the sufferings that abound. But the more you look at sacred scripture—really from any religion—God’s love for His children is strongly evident, and ultimately supersedes all else!
Interviewer:
In your view, what essential spiritual teachings have been overlooked or misunderstood in modern times?
Lundberg:
Perhaps the worst misunderstanding within the Christian faith, in my view, is that Jesus Christ was the only son of God, that Jesus was the only soul that could strive for perfection and ultimately achieve it.
We are all children of God, and we can all strive for and ultimately achieve perfection. That dreadful misunderstanding has unnecessarily limited man’s belief in his ability to be one with God. It ties into the false belief that many cannot be forgiven, that we are unworthy, because our sins are just too great. So the belief can persist, perhaps subconsciously, that we must be forever burdened by these past sins that will never allow us to be forgiven, strive for perfection, and claim our spiritual inheritance.
David’s books and key ideas
Interviewer:
Your book Unifying Truths of the World’s Religions has received significant recognition. What message did you most want readers to take away from it?

Lundberg:
I wanted to present the most beautiful points about love from all world religions and present these powerful truths in a way that they could reasonably be embraced by all. And, that these truths are, for the most part, far more important than any apparent difference in the religions.
It is evident that ultimately, it is the Golden Rule—“do unto others as you would have them do unto you”—that is the “unifying truth” that places all the great religious traditions on a common ground and, therefore, acts as a means to potentially draw us all together in peace and harmony.
Ultimately, it’s really all about the Golden Rule as we embrace the joys of getting closer with God every day in our loving relationships, in our work, and in our worship.
Interviewer:
Your second book, Our Magnificent Afterlife, explores life after death. What convinced you this subject deserved deeper exploration?
Lundberg:
(Laughs) How could such a subject not deserve explanation? Isn’t everyone at least somewhat interested, or concerned, about what happens after so-called death? And the descriptions now coming from the literally thousands of documented stories about NDEs are fascinating.
I’ve found, however, that most books about the afterlife are quite limited. I strived to address every aspect I could think of concerning what our afterlife experience will be like. To that end. I included several telepathic reports that provided more details.
Again, I may sound like a broken record. God loves His children far more than most people realize and has provided such a glorious future potential for each one of us throughout eternity.
Interviewer:
Your latest book, Secrets of the Inner Light, draws on what you describe as the secret teachings of Jesus. What inspired you to explore this?
Lundberg:
I think all Christians, as well as many others, are interested in what Jesus wanted to teach us. I discovered a most wonderful book, published by The Summit Lighthouse, called Corona Class Lessons. It contains the teachings of the ascended masters—these are souls who have graduated from Earth’s classroom and no longer need to re-embody. They have passed their tests and mastered the challenges that we face on Earth.
In that book, Jesus as an ascended master, together with the Master Kuthumi, whose most well-known embodiment was as Saint Francis, explain the true meaning of what Jesus taught 2,000 years ago. Much more is included, and my book highlights the most powerful of these teachings.

Interviewer:
What do you believe people misunderstand most about the teachings of Jesus?
Lundberg:
Well, I have addressed that earlier. Jesus is not the only son of God. Jesus became one with God in the same way we can. We too can strive for and achieve entry into eternal life.
Interviewer:
The idea of “inner light” appears across many spiritual traditions. How do you personally define it?
Lundberg:
I believe that inner light refers to the illumination of wisdom and love in our consciousness that comes from our hearts or from the center of ourselves. Inner light makes it possible to experience holiness and divine truths and it gives us beautiful energy as well as peace. It can be called the Holy Spirit within us.
Inner Light is God’s divine energy that flows through us every moment. It makes up the entire quantum universe, and carries the magnificent potential of us being able to qualify it with love.
This “inner light” that’s within us—in our bodies—can be qualified and developed to such a high extent that every moment of our lives can be most peaceful, joyful and even blissful, enabling us to go about our daily tasks with unlimited energy and great wisdom in how we successfully deal with every situation.

Heaven is real. We can bring Heaven down to Earth. It has been done in other Golden Ages on Earth!
Interviewer:
What signs of positive transformation do you currently see in the world that others may be overlooking?
Lundberg:
That’s what is so exciting. At Golden Age Now we profile and promote positive developments in all ten sectors of society.
In my work and studies, I believe there are thousands, really millions of people working toward our golden age and it is so important for as many people as possible to know that this is happening.
What these “golden age builders” are doing is usually far more important than all the dreadful headlines.
In the spiritual sector, we have the discoveries about our quantum universe, exciting NDE stories, and the tremendous power of meditation and prayer.

In government, much is now being exposed regarding past corruption. Ideally, in an exciting new trend, some government leaders are demonstrating both wisdom and great courage!
In health, many new discoveries are being made concerning how our bodies function, and new treatments that work with the body are emerging. Medbed technology will hopefully be available soon.
The list goes on and on.
Interviewer:
Do you believe spiritual growth and societal progress are connected? If so, how?
Lundberg:
The one essential factor in the success of every past golden age was the spiritual component. When that was lost, they all fizzled out.
Let’s face it. The core foundation of all life is spiritual. Physical/Earth life originates from spiritual reality and to Spirit our physical life returns. Spiritual life requires the highest moral/ethical standards, love, and selfless service. When those qualities are absent in any society, deterioration occurs.
Personal wisdom and closing reflections
Interviewer:
After decades of spiritual study and reflection, what truths feel most important to you today?
Lundberg:
Lean on God. Be with God. Become all love. Brighten the day of everyone you meet. Allow that flow of love to increase as you radiate that love out to all in your world. Forgive all injustices that occur in one’s personal life.
Interviewer:
What practical advice would you give someone seeking greater meaning, peace, or spiritual clarity in everyday life?
Lundberg:
Meditate and pray daily. Love everyone in your world.
Take care of your “house”—your physical body—using self-discipline to eat a pure diet. Exercise and stretch your body, your mind and your ability to be honorable and compassionate. Do not live in fear. Live in faith.
Interviewer:
Looking ahead, what do you hope your work and message will ultimately contribute to the world?
Lundberg:
This is a time of great awakening on our planet.
I would love for everyone to simply experience what God wants them to experience—greater joy, love, beauty, and peace. God loves His children so much—there are wonderful delights to experience going forward into our eternal future as we attune to God and the universal divine flow of Love.

This wonderful reality of life can be found in all the sacred scriptures, in NDE accounts, in quantum physics.
It’s ready to be experienced through regular meditation and living the Golden Rule. Take care of your body so you can live a long and high-quality life and complete all the projects you are divinely guided to manifest. Purify your body to be able to receive the subtle divine light energies.
If we can see the divine light in one another, we can live in a golden age. It is easy to give a comforting word or some expression of loving encouragement, which can change the course of another’s life.
When we light a lamp for others we also lighten our own path as well.
If someone is unjust to you, refrain from punishing yourself with unnecessary anger. People who are successful in their lives are people who focus on helping others. We need to become disciples—to be disciplined to attain our freedom.
We dwell in a loving universe that is far better than the best our currently limited consciousness can imagine.
All of my research points to incredibly beautiful and powerful feelings in a destiny that is beyond what we can now imagine and is impossible to describe with words. I believe one’s life on Earth is really a preparation for our forthcoming afterlife. Heaven is real. Let’s bring Heaven down to Earth, as best we can.
